A team of students from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen was among the first three at the 29th National István Ajtonyi Control Engineering Programming Competition. There were teams from Hungarian, Romanian and Serbian technical institutions of higher education taking part in the competition held in Serbia.

Teachers of German from top-priority German language training institutions of Debrecen’s Vocational Training Center (Debreceni Szakképzési Centrum - DSZC) came to a special further training session hosted by the University of Debrecen (UD) on Thursday. The event also included a workshop for language teachers on corporate communication, organized by the companies British Telecommunications, Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions, Schaeffler Debrecen and Transcosmos Hungary.

An adaptation of Tolstoy's novel, Anna Karenina, was staged with great success by the students of the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Debrecen (UD) in the Liszt Hall of the Faculty of Music. The performance, which premiered on April 24 was directed by Angelika Molnár, an associate professor of the institute.

The University of Bonn, one of Germany's top five higher education institutions, plans to collaborate with the University of Debrecen in research in several disciplines. The two universities are expanding the cooperation started in the NeurotechEU programme, which aims to promote the development of neurosciences and coordinate research; university leaders discussed the expansion of the relationship during a two-day visit to Debrecen.

The Institute of German Studies at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Debrecen (DE) hosted the regional final of the national German language competition "Sprichst du Deutsch" again this year. More than 1400 participants took part in the national competition, organised in cooperation with Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions, and the ten best students had the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge at Tuesday's event in the Main Building.

Austrian and Polish students and lecturers studied the work of the Faculty of Early Childhood Education and Special Needs Education (GYGYK) at the University of Debrecen within the Erasmus+ BIP programme. During the one-week seminar, they learned about the theoretical and practical background of Hungarian curative, kindergarten and social pedagogy at the Faculty of Education and Social Pedagogy in Hajdúböszörmény and its partner institutions.

At the invitation of the Institute of English and American Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Ragnar Almqvist visited the University of Debrecen and gave a lecture entitled Global Islands: Ireland, Hungary and the European Union. This was the first time the Ambassador of Ireland to Hungary has visited the institution.

The University of Debrecen students and researchers have provided the highest number of Fulbright scholars in Hungary - this announcement was made at the information session of the International Office of the University of Debrecen, presenting this year's applications of the world's most prestigious scholarship programme. Every year, Fulbright offers 25 Hungarian students, researchers and teachers the opportunity to work as academic researchers and gain professional experience in the United States of America.

Tianjin Foreign Studies University (TFSU) has confirmed and renewed its educational and cultural cooperation ties with the University of Debrecen in an agreement that was signed in Debrecen on Thursday. President Chen Fachun, the leader of a visiting Chinese delegation, also handed over the document of the accreditation of our Confucius Institute for another five years to the leaders of UD.
